Originates from North America. It is grown as crops in Europe and North America. In our region, the blueberry is most commonly found in spruce forests, often can be found at altitudes of over 2,000 meters. As a remedy used the leaves and fruits.
The leaves contain tannin, arbutin, a glycoside myrtillin, cinema-acid, glycosides similar ericolin, malic and citric acid, sugar and rubber. The fruits contain tannin, sugar, malic and citric acid, oxalic and succinic acid, pectin and one more unnamed mixture of glycosides, which should not be confused with a glycoside myrtillin contained in the leaves. The fruits are rich in vitamin C.
