Origano (Origanum vulgare)

U antičkoj Grčkoj origano je bio izuzetno cenjen zbog svojih lekovitih svojstava. Hipokrat ga je koristio za ubrzavanje porođaja i lečenje hemoroida. Tokom poslednje dve decenije, u medicinskom smislu, origano doživljava pravu renesansu.

Biljka je raznorodnih lekovitih svojstava, zahvaljujući aromatičnim sastojcima i esencijalnim uljima koje sadrži. Mnoge istraživačke studije ukazuju na širok spektar antibakterijskih, antiviralnih, antioksidantnih i drugih svojstava ove biljke. U narodnoj medicini origano se koristi kao prirodni antibiotik i kao sredstvo za iskašljavanje, za širenje bronhija, kod upale sinusa, a posebno za hronične grlobolje.
